Societal impact

The project addresses major challenges related to the prediction of the ageing of the vessel and the core components behaviour in LWR:

  • The outcome of the project will contribute to the selection, the development and the qualification of the numerical simulation tools which can contribute to the enhancement of the integrity of the materials used,
  • The structure of the project and some key milestones are defined such as to contribute key results to the physical understanding of the complex phenomena and their mutual interactions
  • The project will facilitate synergies among research centres, universities and industries with optimised use of relevant installations (e.g. high performance computers, hot cells, …) and expertise on a wide range of disciplines
  • Impact on the performance of the actual NPP’s through the Users’ Group (expert companies, national research centres and utilities)
