Nuclear Research Institute Rez plc (NRI)
NRI is a research institute founded in 1955 as an institute of Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, in 1993 was privatized. The institute deals with safety and reliability of nuclear facilities, including reactor and neutron physics, thermal-hydraulics, radiation chemistry, material research, environment protection, dosimetry and waste management. The institute also operates a 15 MW research reactor LVR-15 and performs irradiation in rigs and loops. Reactor metallurgy including radiation damage as well as corrosion studies started in the institute already in 1960, activities are now concentrated mainly on VVER materials.
NRI provides the expertise which covers materials and materials ageing and component integrity assessment coupled with experimental facilities mainly for Czech NPPs, but also for VVER type NPPs in Slovakia, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Armenia. The institute also serves as a Technical Support Organization for the Czech Nuclear Regulatory Body.
The contribution will be supported by special facilities including advanced materials ageing testing facilities, hot cells, experimental reactor and large scale testing facilities.
