Association pour la Recherche et le Développement des Méthodes et Processus Industriels (ARMINES)
Armines is a non-profit association of around 470 people with a public-interest mission which rules the contract research of the over 60 research laboratories of the Ecoles des Mines network.
Industry-oriented research is based on the sharing of knowledge and experience by researchers and manufacturers, neither basic nor competitive. Another basic function of Armines is, by the very nature of the organization, training through research. Over 1,300 contracts were signed in 2005, generating over M€ 35 in business and making Armines by far the top contract research institution associated with higher education in France. The major field of activity is dedicated to materials science and engineering.
